This is an oversized walnut serving slab—over 33 inches long and 2 inches thick. It was made from a single large section of walnut with no glue-ups, and designed to take center stage. This oversized board wasn’t made fast. It was made intentionally.
The walnut was shaped and finished to highlight every ripple in the grain. The edges follow the natural curve of the wood with two live edges, and the dark metal handles give it weight and presence. This is the piece that stays out on the counter all year—not just when guests show up. The weight, thickness, and grain movement make it a functional piece of art as much as a serving tray.
Each board is sanded by hand through multiple grits and finished with a food-safe oil blend that brings out depth and warmth in the wood. The handles are solid metal with a satin finish. This particular board was hand sanded to 1,000 grit, after being shaped by hand with chisel and palm sander, no cutting or gluing. This is a one-of-a-kind piece. There is no other board cut from this slab that looks like this.
