A sculptural slab of walnut with extraordinary character.
This piece is part of my Exhibition Quality line — boards made from rare, high-figure sections of walnut, shaped and finished to highlight the natural flow of the grain.
The wood itself is remarkable: rich chocolate heartwood framed by warm gold sapwood, with a fluid, wave-like live edge that feels almost carved by hand. Knots, ripples, and depth shifts create a sense of movement across the surface. In the right light, the grain seems to shift and glow.
I shaped the edges to complement the dramatic grain and softened the contours so it feels beautiful in hand while keeping a completely organic silhouette. The finish is a food-safe blend of cutting board oil and Clapham’s Beeswax — a satin sheen that deepens the grain without adding gloss.
This piece includes one annual complimentary reconditioning to inspect, surface sand, reapply oil and wax. Buyer pays 2-way shipping. Does not cover damage or wear beyond normal wear and tear.
This board works beautifully as a charcuterie or cheese presentation, but it also holds its own as a display centerpiece or functional art on a countertop or shelf.
